As our staff have a wide variety of experience and qualifications in the early childhood field we are able to provide a caring and educational program which varies on a daily basis.  As our staff possess a wide range of knowledge with regard to child development we offer a wide range of educational, stimulating and motivating activities in the following developmental areas:

* gross and fine motor (i.e. muscle co-ordination and development)
* cognitive or ‘thinking’ skills
* social and emotional development
* language skills
* creative skills.

You will find that our playrooms are permanently set up in a number of learning areas, which cater to the many learning areas which we are promoting, this includes :-

- an art and craft area
- a literacy area
- a block play area
- a cognitive area
- a dramatic play and dress up area
- a science and discovery area
- a reading area

We maintain and add to these areas according to the children’s needs and interests in order to ensure that the children are able to return again and again to an activity to practise and perfect important skills.  We emphasize the importance of working in small groups in order to foster appropriate social interaction. This helps the children to teach each other skills as well.  We will also carry out a series of “projects” throughout the year, particularly in the 3-5 room.  These projects will be promoted through close observations of the children’s interests.  We will then brainstorm with the children in order to find out the extent of their knowledge in a particular topic.  We will then help to guide the children in their studies of the topic by showing them ways to “research” their topics (reference books, guest speakers, other children, adults and experimentation).  When we are carrying out a project you will see our efforts displayed on the walls of the centre.  These displays (or documentation) are provided for both the information of parents and to allow the children to reflect on what they have learned during the project. We will also continue to take anecdotal observations in all areas of child development on each child, as well as providing a yearly developmental summary to parents about their child.

We will provide daily written information regarding the learning and investigations, which have taken place in the rooms. Please discuss these with the room staff if you have any comments, suggestions or questions.
